American Pancakes

 

American pancakes are made from eggs, flour, milk nd baking powder. Usually these pancakes are sprinkled with butter, syrup, fruit jam, honey, or peanut butter.

Ingredients:

  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 25g melted butter, plus extra for cooking
  • 200 ml milk
  • vegetable oil, for cooking
  • To serve
  • maple syrup
  • toppings of your choice, such as cooked bacon, chocolate chips, blueberries or peanut butter and jam

Method :

  1. Mix 200g self-raising flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tbsp golden caster sugar and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.
  2. Make a hole in the center with the back of a spoon and add 3 large eggs, 25g melted butter and 200ml milk.
  3. Beat together with a balloon beater or electric hand whisk until smooth and then pour into a container.
  4. Heat a little butter and 1 tsp oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. When the butter looks foamy, pour the mixture into rounds, about 8cm wide. Make sure you don't place the pancakes too close together as they will spread as they cook. Cook the pancakes on one side for about 1-2 minutes or until many small bubbles start to pop and appear on the surface. Turn the pancakes over and cook a little more on the other side. Repeat until all the dough is used up.
  5. Serve your pancakes stacked on a plate topped with maple syrup and your favorite topping.
